Nostalgic Snacks: How To Make Oatmeal Creme Pies

Homemade Oatmeal Creme Pies are the Best
Hey everyone Today is a special day because not only am I gonna be making an ordinary recipe, this is a third video for my new series called making nostalgic snacks from my childhood and I’m gonna make Homemade Oatmeal Creme Pies.
Oatmeal Creme Pies were the kind of snack that I would always eat whenever I was at my grandparents house or at a friends house. If I see oatmeal creme pies, I’m definitely grabbing one. That’s one of those snacks I remember growing up on—soft cookies with that sweet cream filling in the middle. It was simple, but it always hit.
Making them homemade takes it to another level. The cookies are soft and chewy with just the right amount of cinnamon, and the filling is smooth, sweet, and creamy. It’s the same nostalgic feel, just fresher and better.
I remember eating oatmeal creme pies thinking that they were healthy for you until I got older and realized that there are so many preservatives and that there was so much sugar including high fructose corn syrup.
Store-Bought Oatmeal Creme Pies vs. Homemade Oatmeal Creme Pies
You guys are probably wondering these 2 questions. 1. What is the difference between Store-Bought and Homemade? and 2. Which one is better? Store Bought and Homemade?
Store-Bought Oatmeal creme pies are easy, delicious, and nostalgic. They are convenient to grab as a quick snack, soft, and individually packaged. The advantages are that they are easy to use and prepared for consumption, they extended shelf life they have a constant taste each and every time, and they are excellent for lunchboxes or fast snacks. The drawbacks are that they are sweeter than homemade, they have more artificial substances and preservatives. The filling may have an overly processed flavor, the cookies have less flavor but are softer, and the oats’ reduced texture.
The Homemade Oatmeal Creme Pies have fresher ingredients, a softer texture, and a deeper flavor characterize. The filling is smooth and creamy without having an artificial flavor, and the oatmeal cookies taste warm and buttery with cinnamon. The advantages are that they are have a fresh and handmade taste, they have a chewier and softer texture, they have genuine butter and premium components, they have more oat and cinnamon flavor,
the sweetness is under your control. The cons require more time to produce, they have a reduced shelf life, and it requires construction and baking.
The homemade version is less like a boxed snack and more like a dessert from a bakery so that means that Homemade wins. It is buttery, nice and crunchy, and the frosting in the middle gives it a nice paste. Whenever I grew up eating the store brand, I never had that feeling. I liked the store brand growing up even though they were a little dry.
Just know if you grew up eating or loving Oatmeal Creme Pies, wait until you see this recipe because it will blow your mind due to the fact that this will beat store bought.
FYI
Make sure your butter is softened, not melted, so the cookies hold their shape.
Don’t overmix the dough once you add the flour or the cookies can turn out tough.
The cookies will continue to set as they cool, so don’t overbake them.
Let the cookies cool completely before adding the filling so it doesn’t melt.
Add milk slowly to the filling so you don’t make it too thin.
Give It Your Own Twist
Once you get the hang of this recipe, you can switch it up however you like. Add raisins, chocolate chips, or even a little nutmeg for extra flavor. You can make them bigger, smaller, or adjust the filling thickness depending on how you like them.
